There will be a mixture of private and shared room accommodation. You are welcome to come with a friend or friends and we will put you in a room together if you wish. The shared rooms will be at a $100 discount. If you select any remaining shared rooms but haven’t arranged a roommate prior to the trip, we’ll work with you on arrival to find a pairing that works. We want everyone to get good sleep and feel comfortable in their space. If this is something the roomies want to work out on their own without our assistance, that’s fine too.

Our home base, Waterfall Lodge, is located in the traditional fishing village Oughterard, on the western shores of Lough Corrib, Ireland’s second largest lake with 365 islands, some of them inhabited. Waterfall Lodge itself is an elegant period-style residence with antique furnishings, set in a mature garden.

Oughterard’s atmosphere is relaxed and friendly one that makes everyone feel welcome. The village, a one minute walk from Waterfall Lodge, has a wealth of quality restaurants and pubs with traditional Irish music, as well as several excellent craft shops including Fuchsia Crafts and Connemara Candles.

“A more beautiful village can scarcely be seen than Oughterard. It stands upon Lough Corrib; picturesque and romantic. The river Feogg comes bashing over the rocks and by woods until it passes the town and meets the lake.”

William Makepeace Thackeray
